What Happened?

The Marshall Economic Summit Leadership Conference was created to bring a community together around the topic of economic development and moving forward with a growth focus. If we can’t get the leaders to the places where the thought leaders on economic growth are, we are going to bring the thought leaders to them. Not only that, but they’ll actually have fun and be engaged throughout the event. For a three-hour discussion on economics, that takes creativity! In the process, the summit strengthens community resolve to work together, identifies weaknesses and opportunities, and builds a more inclusive and engaged pipeline of community leaders.

The Theme

How can you not do a leadership conference on baseball in East Texas? Go Rangers!
Economic development is a team sport. A community is a team. Whether the community likes it or not, they are one the field and in the middle of a game. How well that team does depends on communication and honing skills to play seamlessly. A good team has depth in its roster, changes adaptively, motivates continuous improvement, and promotes interdependent team play. You won’t get very far if the third baseman refuses to through the ball to first base. No individual can win a game alone.

Why

Why did we do it?
To create a thriving business environment, the basic foundations need to be covered. Leaders in government, education, business, civic, and community organizations need to collaborate and communicate effectively. The Marshall Economic Summit was created to foster greater collaboration in Marshall and provide the tools to stimulate more leadership growth and economic development in the region.
