The Theme: Imagine Our Future

The future belongs to those who prepare for it. In Marshall, we believe progress starts with vision—and flourishes through cooperation.
This year’s summit asked a vital question: What kind of future do we want to create, and what will it take to get there? We explored new strategies for economic development, workforce expansion, leadership growth, and education. And through shared insight and practical scenarios, we strengthened our capacity to respond to both challenges and opportunities

Why We Did It

We believe Marshall’s best days are ahead. But realizing that future means aligning our strengths, addressing our gaps, and empowering our leaders—both current and future—to work in sync. The Marshall Economic Summit was designed to ignite that collaboration. By convening local government, education, business, and civic leaders, we’re building the foundation for long-term, inclusive growth. When leaders connect, vision becomes clearer. When communities align, progress accelerates.

Who Attended

The summit welcomed a wide range of leaders from Marshall, Harrison County, and surrounding areas—elected officials, investors, business owners, educators, nonprofit directors, and more.

Highlight #1

A powerful panel session featured insights from regional education leaders including Leon Carter (Principal, Carter Arnett), Dr. Richele Langley (Superintendent, Marshall ISD), Dr. Blair Blackburn (President, ETBU), and Dr. Herman J. Felton (President, Wiley University).

Together, they tackled some of Marshall’s most pressing educational challenges—openly discussing barriers to student success, opportunities for growth, and the critical role education plays in shaping the city’s economic trajectory.

EF5 Tornado Scenario
Amazon Warehouse Scenario

Highlight #2

For the first time ever, key leaders from the Marshall City Council and Harrison County participated in a high-stakes interactive scenario experience. In Scenario One, city leaders had just 30 minutes to plan an emergency response to a simulated EF5 tornado striking Marshall. In Scenario Two, county officials strategized how to quickly accommodate a new Amazon warehouse facility coming to Marshall Industrial Park—balancing infrastructure needs, workforce preparation, and regional impact. These immersive exercises were designed to sharpen communication, collaboration, and crisis decision-making—skills essential to shaping Marshall’s future.
